subject: Business Advice To Ensure Your Company Survives The Next Five Years [print this page]

As business owners beckon the New Year and reflect on the past year, it is important to prepare and plan for the future. It is good to look back and see how your business has been performing for the last five years. By doing this you will be able to properly predict how this year is going to be and more so put in place mechanisms that will ensure your company survives any eventuality. Last year we witnessed many big organizations crumbling due to the economic crisis that took place. This best explains to business owners how unpredictable life can be. You can come up with the best business plan ever, work so hard to implement it and still due to unforeseen circumstances beyond your control everything flops. One thing is for sure, we are not certain of the future. This does not mean we should stop making new business plan for the New Year. I believe it is prudent to be optimistic since in business it is all about taking risks. Some of the most successful business projects happened by chance just because someone was prepared when the opportunity showed up. A good example is how Bill Gates fruitfully acquired the rights to sell MS-DOS operating system. Louis Pasteur said, Chance favors the prepared mind. My personal advice to business owners that will ensure they survive the next five years is that they should recognize the complexity of business, and that there are circumstances in life that we have little no control over. Therefore, all we can do is to be well equipped and be set to adapt and evolve depending on the business situation.
