subject: Business Users And Micosoft Sharepoint [print this page]

It's crucial that your business users manage to use the product correctly. Some people who had problems with SharePoint tend to dislike it. Don't let these negative vibes run your organization.

In order to prevent this from happening, incorporate the following into your organization.

1. Make a draft site or a collaboration platform.

Here, your users should have full control. They should have full freedom to change anything here. For example, they should be able to create blogs, sub-sites, or wikis. This is where they have unlimited practice.

2. Encourage the use of the Search function

You can test this by hiding some document into the most hidden folder, and then ask the users to try and locate it. You can even offer prizes for the ones who find it. You will also make the Search function more popular this way.

3. Communities and User Groups

There are many user groups and communities available on the internet. With the help of these groups, users can learn to understand software much better. Take a step further and host a SharePoint user group in your own organization. If you make a cool environment, it will be easier for the users to learn new methods and techniques, especially when they get help from other users.

4. Make Beginner Workshops

You can help the beginners with a seminar training. Here, they can learn how to use the solution properly. Go a step further and call older members to join in and check their knowledge.

5. Have SP meetings every week or month

Some team members may not be using the software yet. If this is the case, then you need to inform the managers. They in turn will resolve this by storing important documents in SP. Teams will get no other choice than to learn.

You cannot trust and enjoy Microsoft SP if you don't understand how to use it.
