2. Grooming: Since most people have a busy schedule and live a busy life, sometimes they cut corners by doing things like putting on their make up or even shaving when they are in the car.
3. Pets: Driving with your pets in the car is fine, as long as they are properly secured within the vehicle. How often do you see people driving with their pets on their lap? Loose pets can be a huge distraction, so make sure you get a safety harness if you are going to travel with your pets in the vehicle.
4. Kids: Your kids can be a distraction, especially if they are acting out, crying, and are trying to get your attention. If you have another adult in the car, let them handle the kids while you focus on driving.
5. Being Tired: Sleep deprived drivers are more easily distracted. Driving while tired also slows down your reaction time behind the wheel and can impact your decision making. If you know you have a long drive ahead get some rest beforehand.
6. Technology: As more and more gadgets hit the market and are compatible with cars, technology continues to become more a distraction for drivers. From TVs to GPS, computers, iPads, and Smartphones, there is no shortage of devices that distract drivers.
7. Site seeing: Too many drivers take their attention off the road to look at the sights. From people, places, and other accidents, there are many things that people look at when they should be focused on the road.
8. Texting and social media: Texting and driving remain a serious issue. Every time you go out on the road you can be sure that you will see another driver texting or interacting on social media.
9. Day dreaming: Sometimes drivers simply wander off and day dream. They get caught up in their own thoughts and lose focus on driving.
10. Talking on the phone: Fines or no fines, people continue to talk on their phone when driving. This is still one of the biggest distractions that driver engage in.
