Sexual assault is an assault of a sexual nature or any sexual act inflicted on someone against someone else without his/her consent. This crime, commonly thought of as man against a woman, as in domestic violence, should be delienated as its variances are yet diverse. It can be woman against a man, woman on woman, man on man, adult on a child, child on an adult, or child on a child. For clarification, an assault simply means to attack violently.

Yes. While sexual assault is closely associated with the crime of rape, there are some differences in the two words because sexual assault, in the legal realm, covers a wider scope. Regardless, they are both crimes and definitely deem reporting.
