10th Cbse Grading System: Stepping Stone For Life Ahead

10th Grade is quite a tough class to deal with owing to the stress that is omnipresent in the students

. The stress levels at times have led to many unfortunate incidents that tarnish the entire academic environment. But thankfully, the new grading system introduced by CBSE will revolutionize the academic scene. The 10th CBSE syllabus is well-structured into 5 main subjects that include English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science and Hindi that later branch out into more detailed streams at the +2 level. Thus, giving them a basic foundation to branch out into the subject of their choice in their senior secondary such as Humanities, Science(PCM and PCB) and Commerce.

The new 10th CBSE grading system has been a boon to reduce the stress levels amongst the students concerning the examinations. The students can now be more relaxed. This is because the Board exams have been made non-compulsory from the academic year 2010-11. In addition to this, a new system of evaluation Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) that is based upon a system of evaluation that is continuous and comprehensive and is based on grades, has been adopted. It encompasses formative and summative assessment of the students performance over a course of two terms first and second -for a period of the year-long academic schedule.

The evaluation structure too is uncomplicated. Based on a students actual performance grades are allotted to every student using a 9-point scale, thereby making evaluation for grade 10th CBSE much easier to comprehend. Each of these grades will be given on the basis of both formative as well as summative assessments, and match up to a range of marks as indicated below:

This system of evaluation of 10th CBSE being fairly new, has aroused many concerns and criticisms. This can be expected for every change that is brought about in any field. Some of the students and parents are of the view that if the grades are given it might become difficult to discern which one of them performed better than the other. This might be disheartening for outstanding students who score in the range of 91- 99% but in the case of the low achievers, a system of such of evaluation is definitely in their favour and will help pave the way for their academic growth and give them confidence to accomplish.
