What do you thing will be the best-selling cars for the coming year
? Will the selection be similar to the previous years? What breakthrough models will make it to the list? According to Edmunds.com, The first ten months of 2012 saw almost twelve million vehicles being sold in the United States alone; 3.7 million were from sales of 16 top vehicles out of 250 or so available models.
Based in that data, 24/7 Wall St. came up with a forecast of the best-selling cars. Weve shortened the list to 13 for 2013.
Toyota Camry moderately priced and with a lot of options/versions to choose from, the Camry appeals even to environment-lovers with two hybrid models. It costs a few more than the Corolla but less than the Avalon. 2011 saw its redesign after five years, but the output has been conservative at best.
Ford F-150 a classic favorite in the pickup category, the basic package gets 23 mpg on the highway.
Honda Accord the base engine for both the sedan and coupe versions of the vehicle is 2.4L, four-cylinder wonder. The new model features a continuously variable transmission technology, a shorter length, and a new engine family. The car manufacturer is proud to call it the most sculpted and dynamic Accord they have ever produced, and it workedconsumers liked it so much it is expected to be among the best-selling cars for 2013.
Nissan Altima the brands car-for-all also got a new design, but its nothing drastic. The Altima gets 27 mpg in city driving and 38 on the highway. Bigger engines get less, of course.
Honda Civic hands down a crowd favorite, the Civic offers a lot of options for everyone, no matter how small the budget. The coupe version is the least expensive, and the Civic also has a hybrid version that gets 44 mpg on the highway.
Toyota Corolla a list of the best-selling cars wont be complete without this model. The brands most basic sedan has already surpassed Volkswagen Beetle sales. Highly fuel-efficient, cheap, and very reliable, 2014 will be the year when the new Corolla will emerge.
Honda CR-V the crossover that gets 31 mpg on the highway, comes in six versions, has all-wheel drive, and has a 185-horsepower engine. The new model even has new tech features that allows for hands-free messaging.
Ford Fusion the Fusion hybrid gets an admirable 47 mpg on the highway. The upscale Fusion Titanium AWD may cost twice as much as the base model, but its a premium thats definitely worth the buck.
Chevy Silverado 1500 dont say Chevy, say Chevrolet. The Silverado pickup comes in three versions, including a hybrid. Buyers can choose between two- and four-wheel drive models.
Ford Escape the SUV that doesnt escape attention. The 2013 version is an improvement from the previous releases, featuring a longer and wider body and a stronger engine.
Chevy Malibu notable in this line is the high-mileage four-door sedan Malibu Eco, which gets 37 mpg on the highway. It gets some of its power from a modern energy storage unit: a lithium-ion battery.
Chevy Cruze General Motors, the Cruzes parent company, has boasted that the model has the best fuel economy of any gas engine in America. True or not, its performance looks nice on the sales charts, and may likely do so again.
Ford Focus the electric model of this vehicle may be expensive at almost forty thousand dollars, but it does get 99 mpg in highway driving. The company is pretty stable too, being the only Detroit car company that didnt file for bankruptcyreliability is a key factor in sales, so no wonder that the Focus will be among the best-selling cars for 2013.
