2006 National Census analysis: The Women Issue in 5 States by Dr. Genesis Dawuda

The Nigeria 2006 National Population Census has come and gone. Four years after the counting, it seems to me that five states need critical analysis not because the counting has a problem but that the Federal Government needs to really look into the possibility of giving the those states special attention. Special girls child education and among many other issues that I can't elaborated here.

According to the 2006 National Population Census;

If every male in lagos will pair up with a female, 342,506 men will be without a woman.

If every man in Kano is to pair-up with a woman 304,574 men will have to move to a place like Nassarawa State which has about 372,163 unpaired women.

Men in Lagos will have to spillover to Ebonyi which has 91,533 unpaired women plus 33,612 extra women from Ogun and 8,894 women from Enugu and 3632 from Kebbi.

This will give a better clew on the states which her excellency Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan is expected to concentrate on her Women for Change Initiative campaign.

The men in Lagos will have to be very romantic and caring to their women considering the fact that there are 342,506 men available. (This is just to help illustrate the number of males, because not all Males are mature enough to keep a home but this illustrates the fact that women in Lagos have lots of options to choose from).

Women for Change will need to take their campaign to Kano where 304,574 men exceed that of the women. Telling the women that since there is a draught of men in Kano, women for Change Initiative should use their women in Kano through bedroom talk to their husbands in staking their 30% affirmative action on gender policy.

Results from Chief Samuel Adamu Makama's 2006 National Population Census, Lagos and Kano are far from fulfilling the Biblical prophecy of Is. 4:1, "And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, we will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach."

So it seems the women in Ebonyi, Enugu, Nassarawa, Ogun, and Kebbi may be under reproach. So Ministry of women affairs need to come to the rescue of women in these States, so also Women for Change Initiative.

So I leave you with these figures to go juggle in your minds too.
