2010 Gmc Yukon Xl Engine Options

The GMC Yukon XL is a large sports utility vehicle which has been sold and produced

by the General Motors Corporation, under various brand names, since 1935. The 2010 GMC Yukon comes with three engine options. The first engine option which comes standard in both the SLT and SLE Yukon trims was a 4.8-liter, V6 engine. This six-cylinder engine produces horsepower of 295, which for many consumers does not provide enough engine performance.

The next upgrade option, which comes standard on the 2010 GMC XL, is a 5.3-liter, V6 engine. This six-cylinder engine does not produce too much more power than the 4.8-liter option, but produces horsepower of 320 and torque of 340 pound feet. This engine can come with a flex fuel option, which allows for the driver to fuel the Yukon XL with E85 fuel. To further save on fuel costs, the 5.3-liter engine comes standard with GMC's Active Fuel Management system that automatically turns off 4 of the engine's 8 cylinders when the car is idling or cruising. Both the 4.8-liter engine and 5.3-liter engine options come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission.

The third engine option for the 2010 GMC Yukon is a 6.2-liter, eight cylinder engine. This 6.2-liter engine comes standard on the 2010 GMC Yukon Denali and produces horsepower of 403 and torque of 417 pound feet. The 2010 Yukon Denali comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Because of GMC's Active Fuel Management System, fuel efficiency for the 2010 GMC Yukon XL has improved. With the 5.3-liter engine, the GMC Yukon XL gets and EPA estimated 21 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the city. This is about a 10% increase over 2009 EPA estimates.
