The 2010 Jeep Commander is a large vehicle, tipping the scales at nearly 4400 pounds. This much weight requires a capable power plant with ample amounts of torque and horsepower over a very broad range of RPMs in order to get the Jeep Commander around traffic, but also for off road and towing tasks that are expected of 7-passenger SUVs from Jeep. Lesser engines are available in the 2010 Jeep Commander, but they exchange ample amounts of power for very modest gains in fuel economy. After all, 4400 pounds is 4400 pounds regardless of whether the 5.7L Hemi is motivating it, or one of the two PowerTech motors is found under the hood.
