Its that time again, where we award the style icons of 2012 for their contribution to contemporary fashion

. This year has been a rollercoaster of trends with everything spikes and studs to Aztec prints making a comeback on the catwalk. Whether you embraced them with hearty gusto or stuck with your tried and tested basics, one thing is for certain, these trends show no sign of going away. In our mens designer clothing awards ceremony we praise those that have made an impact on the catwalk and name and shame those that have really missed the mark.

Best dressed male in 2012 was a hotly contested category however the crown goes to everyone's favourite crooner Bruno Mars. His stylish take on classic 50's tailoring had many men reaching for the suits and ditching the sweats. His signature trilby has appeared in high street stores across the UK along with his laid back checked shirts and blazers. Bruno we think that you are amazing, just the way you are. Worst dressed this year goes to Will.i.am who decided that 2012 was the year for him to attempt his transformation into an auto tune robot. From the light up shoes and jackets to the military style leather jump suits, it was as if the Black Eyed Peas frontman had raided Michael Jackson's wardrobe and lost.

Best style newcomer goes to Harry Styles, the One Direction singer has blazed his own trail when it comes to fashion and is constantly featured on best dressed lists. His classic British style mixed with American prep school is now copied across the globe by hundreds of men looking to recreate the One Direction appeal. A special shout out to the other four members of the band, who have proved that there is no such thing as too many baseball jackets when they come in special colours for each member.

The 2012 lifetime achievement award goes to a sportsman whose billboards have literally caused women and men across the world to stop and do a double take. David Beckham's collaboration with H&M has resulted in an increase in women heading out to buy their partners new underwear. His signature style has always been top of the league with us and this year he has shown that a simple trench coat, flat cap and great shoes will never go out of fashion. 2012 has been a fantastic year for fashion, here is to a truly stylish 2013.
