1. Remember that you are training your brain as well as your body. Push yourself beyond your comfort zone: some might call this training your mind or training your spirit. You probably already have a sense for what I mean. There is a point, many points for some of us, when our bodies want to give up. The more you push that point, without killing yourself, lol, the more developed your will becomes when you train and when you compete in mixed martial arts. What you need to remember here is that you are training your brain as well as your body. This is not meant to be hocus pocus or even spiritual. The point is that your brain has programmed responses to certain events. Part of your job as a complete mma fighter/machine is to reprogram your brain so that it does precisely what you want it to do.

Whether you are already what some might call strong willed or not, you can improve this. Through repetition and focus you can improve your will. That is something that you need to realize. You may have to push harder at the start; however, once you have pushed yourself, your mma cardio not only improves but so does your mind's ability to deal with it. With that said you do not have to destroy your body every day. That is counterproductive, but you should 'push yourself'.

2. Do not over train. This second point may seem to contradict the first one; however, training your will (your brain) to work harder does not mean that you should work all the time, without resting, giving your body time to repair and get stronger. Remember that your strength and physical development occur while you rest. Of course you do not want to go over board with your resting, but you must give your body time to recover. A balance is required to achieve optimum growth and performance.

3. The best way to assure that you are working the proper amount of time is to use a good and consistent MMA cardio program. This is what ties everything together. You do not have to rewrite the book! So many more qualified people have explored MMA cardio, conditioning, and strength training; listen to them. This will save you headache, time, and most importantly wasted effort and energy.

Of course you will have to customize some of the things good MMA trainers say, for your body type, and for you personally, but that can only be done after you have studied the core components of good MMA cardio.
