For instance, if they are using outdated hardware it could affect your site in a very negative way. There could be periods of hours that your site is down. Every hour your site is down you are losing more and more customers. I actually do recall one instance, not going to mention any names, but a clients site was down for 12 days. Think of all the business they lost for that amount of time.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth is very important. This is just a fancy name for how many people can be on your site at any given time. The trick to bandwidth is choosing a hosting service that will state just how much bandwidth you will be getting with their service. Typically the standard seems to be at least 300 GB of bandwidth per month.

As far as seeing the words "unlimited bandwidth" I would be careful. Big companies can get away with it and can provide a massive amount of bandwidth. However, a new company might not really be allowed to live up to these words "unlimited bandwidth."

Typically what will happen if you purchase a hosting package you exceed your bandwidth is they will see a "bandwidth exceeded" error message. However, if you find your self needing more bandwidth you can always call the hosting provider and upgrade your bandwidth at any time.

Price

I try not to be overly concerned with the price of a hosting service. But, like all things we do price does come into factor. You want to make sure that you are not paying above the normal market price, but then again if you are paying for a cheap hosting service you want to make sure that it is a good service.

So if you take these three factors bandwidth, uptime, and price into factor you should be able to make a good decision on what hosting company would be best for you.
