Pink and blue are the only two colors kid's bikes come in. False.
A couple of years ago this might have been true but it's not anymore. Manufacturers realized that there was a greater need for supplying various colours. Basically, these two colours were limiting the options for children out there and it was costing them. Now some manufacturers have bikes that come in six different colours. Just take a look at a store near you or an online store to see the options they have available. By having more colours to choose from, it can also make kids' bikes more special to your child. They don't need to go with just the one colour. The most common colours that you can find kids' bicycles in are red, orange, blue, pink, green and yellow. Almost every single colour from the rainbow selection!
A kid's bike MUST have stabilizers. False.
Stabilizers are extra wheels that you can put onto a two wheel bike. It's basically a different form of a trike. Once your kid outgrows the stabilizers, you can take them off and move them onto the bigger bike. This is the old form of teaching cycling to kids. There is now a new and better way to teach kids. It's called a balance bike. The kids' bicycle doesn't have any pedals or other junk to confuse your kid. All they have to do is push themselves and they can easily start gliding. Once they learn how to balance themselves on a bicycle they can move onto pedal bikes. Kid's bikes have literally been transformed by this invention.
Wooden bikes are superior to steel bikes. False.
We don't know where this myth originated from but we hear it often. This simply isn't true. Wooden bikes are not superior and they probably never will be. A steel bike offers much more: adaptability, longevity, comfort and affordability.
Hopefully, now that these three kids' bikes myths have been debunked, you'll be able to purchase the perfect kids' bike for your child.
