3 Precautionary Steps to Avoid PC Satellite TV Software Scams

If you are skeptical of downloading a PC Satellite TV software package for a small one-time fee, then you are not alone. When visiting the merchant's website you are given all the pros and benefits, but when all said and done there's a tendency to think it's just too good to be true.

When taking the time to do your due diligence (i.e. putting in the time to research these products) there are many questions that need answering. As a result, most of them might go unanswered when reading bogus product reviews and visiting sites that want to sell to you instead.

So it's important to find sites that give you the cons also, while ignoring all the over-hyped and misleading content out there. Otherwise, this can throw you completely off-base and leave you with nothing but fear of a scam and more confusion. The worst thing you could do is to think all PC Satellite TV software products are total (SCAMS!).

Truthfully, these products are not perfect and may not be exactly what you hoped for but one of them could be the next best thing to what you don't have now.

You won't receive any premium paid TV channels (Satellite or Cable). As far as HD channels, realistically you will receive a good to very good picture quality on your computer with some occasional blurriness and 'choppy' video - but still watchable.

That's why it's highly suggested to use a broadband connection - higher the connection speed better the picture and overall performance.

Connecting your computer to a TV-set with the software installed will also produce the same type of picture quality.

To determine whether or not a particular software is a (SCAM!), you need to put a little time in to find the real truth. Remember, people who are happy with these products/services are not inclined to post their experiences.

It's usually the ones who downloaded a particular software that either fell short of their expectations or didn't work at all on their computers that are posting their displeasures, which happens to be the minority.

To help keep scams from occurring, here's what you should do:

1. Visit the software merchant's site - Be sure to read everything, page for page, especially the TOS (Terms of Services) or Terms of Use. Know whether or not your computer is within system requirements and how many days are included in the money back guarantee.

You should have at least 64MB RAM memory 128MB is recommended and 10MB hard drive space. It's also recommended that you use a broadband connection (DSL or High Speed) - not a 56k modem or dial up. A wireless connection can work but it has trouble playing channels that require a broadband connection.

Make notes and contact customer service/tech support via email with your questions. Be sure to give them your computer's operating system information, especially if you have a Vista, Windows 7, or MAC (make sure your MAC is .exe download capable).

Also, contacting the software merchant is a great way to test their response time. In other words, you can kill two birds with one stone when doing so. Some people complain that these services don't respond to emails, so here's a great way to test the service you are looking into before shelling out any money.

If the PC Satellite TV merchant doesn't respond back within three business days, then go to your next software of interest.

By the way, have two or more software choices from different merchants/services that interest you. That way you can send your emails to all of them at once, rather than one at a time, to speed things along.

If you get a response on-time, then that tells you something about the person who made the complaint (about not receiving an email response). The reason you want to verify these complaints is because some of them are not accurate. Here you get to figure things out on your own without having to rely on just word of mouth.

If you decision is solely bassed on latter, then you could be passing up on something that may indeed work for you and your computer. Just because another person experienced an issue doesn't necessarily mean you will to.

2. Know exactly who issues refunds - In many cases, it's not the software merchant. More than likely, you will come across some posts where people have complained about not getting their money back from the merchant.

This is important: Only download software when Clickbank, Plimus, or PayPal is involved. How do you know which one is involved? Visit the merchant/software service website and click the 'Buy' or Download' button or whatever button that takes you to the order page. You will see one of the retail processors just mentioned.

Whichever processor you choose to make a purchase will be the one you go back to when requesting a refund. Each processor has an iron-clad, no questions asked, money back guarantee - you won't get scammed and theres no need to contact your credit card company to request a chargeback.

So understand if someone complains that a merchant didn't refund his/her money after making a request, they obviously didn't read and follow up with Clickbank, Plimus or PayPal's email instructions that was sent to them immediately after making a payment.

3. How to test software with no free trial - You probably asked yourself why are these services not offering free-trial software. And rightly so, it certainly could help lower complaints but that doesn't appear be a priority. Still, you don't have to fret over this because there is a workaround.

There are a few paid PC Satellite TV services out there that offer free trial software. However, you will find more of the totally free software (TV players) online when searching for them. If anything, you want to test either one on your computer to see whether or not a computer-to-software incompatibility issue occurs.

As a result, you don't spend any money when downloading/installing a free trial or freebie to your computer. While in the process, you want to check the picture quality, channels, overall performance, etc. Conducting this test will tell a lot about your computer - if it meets system requirements, among other things.

If the free trial or freebie software works well enough on your computer and you're happy with the outcome, then a top leading brand should work on your computer also. In fact, you may want to purchase the free trial product instead if you are that happy with it.

People making Satellite TV for PC complaints never follow all the steps provided here. It only makes sense to see with your own eyes, the truth, which isnt hard to do when taking the initiative to do a little investigating.
