Becoming a games tester is but one of many careers in the gaming industry and there are several reason why this is such a good career option. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider becoming a video game tester.

1. Doing What You Love

Doing what you love and getting paid for doing it is truly a privilege in life. Most people never even think its possible to earn money while playing games, but many of the top games testers earn a very good living by just playing games and helping to develop them. Doing what you love for a living really makes a huge difference in your quality of life and dying a slow and painful death in some crummy office job is nothing but a bore.

2. Stepping Stone

To be honest, starting out testing games is not the most lucrative career in the world. Until and unless you become more experienced and start building some contacts and making some connections you won't earn a fortune. If you are serious however, you can become very good and get paid very well. For most people however, its just a stepping stone to more "advanced" careers in the gaming industry. It is a great way to get your foot in the door though.

Testing games can be very rewarding. Working on a game that ends up a huge success can be very rewarding and knowing that you played a part in making a game a success is very rewarding. Also, putting in the long hours for months on end and coming up with a good end results is very rewarding emotionally. Perhaps more than that, the most rewarding aspect is knowing that millions of people all over the world are enjoying a game that you helped develop.

If you are someone who already spend a lot of time gaming, then earning money doing it can be a great way to start making money while still doing something you love. Although its not as glamorous as many make it out to be, its still a great start.
