3 Reasons To Take A Closer Look At An It Proposal

When choosing an outsourced IT vendor to look after your company's technology

, it makes sense to collect a few proposals, look them over, and then choose the one with the lowest overall price doesn't it? After all, so long as an IT company can fix problems and keep your computers running the way they're supposed to, aren't they fairly interchangeable?

We can understand how new clients can feel that way, but that's definitely not the reality of our industry. To see it for yourself, simply go online and look for reviews of different IT firms even though many will list similar services, you'll find that some will get much better feedback from existing clients than others.

To make sure you're getting the best value for your money, you need to go a little bit deeper and understand that all IT firms aren't the same. Here are three reasons to take a closer look at every proposal:

1. Certified isn't the same as skilled or experienced. Just as two doctors can both graduate medical school but represent different standards of quality and care, so too can a pair of IT professionals have the same certifications but be very different in the way they approach their work. Simply put, the best outsourced IT vendors don't just have certifications to show that they have passed the right exams, but take the time to learn about your business and technology.

2. Great IT companies will put their guarantees in print. How long will your IT provider take to respond to a problem or make sure it's resolved? Will they be available by phone 24 hours a day? These are just a couple of things you want to know before you sign an agreement and some quick examples of the guarantees you should have in writing. A great IT company is going to have no problem standing behind their promises.

3. Some IT vendors are more committed to customer service than others. What is tough to tell from an IT proposal is what kind of commitment you're actually going to get from your technology vendor. Although the better technology firms are generally going to charge slightly more, a better way to figure things out is by talking to a couple of past or current clients to see if they were happy with the level of service and response times they got. Ask around a bit, and pay attention to the answers you hear.

Do you need an outsourced IT company that treats your company like a partner and not a monthly invoice? If so, call or e-mail a member of the Vision Computing team today to set up a free consultation.
