Are the products of good quality? Most importantly, are they normally priced? You won't be able to sell inferior products that are quadruple the price of other products in the market.

Second, test out the level of support that associates will be receiving from the others in the network. Sales associates typically work independently from their homes but that doesn't mean they should have to work from home totally alone and without any help.

Try to see if you can get a timely response from the people above you by emailing or chatting with them. Ask them how they keep in touch with their associates. If you email and no one ever replies, or they reply two weeks after your email, forget about it.

Third, do they ask for an outrageous initial investment?

Most, if not all, network marketing campaigns do ask for an initial investment. It can be called many different things but basically you become an associate only after paying a certain fee. After the fee has been paid, you will receive the tools of the trade. This could include software, sales forms, brochures, sample products, etc.

Legitimate multi-level marketing companies earn money through sales, not through joining fees. So the focus should definitely be on the products and not exclusively on getting new recruits to pay a large joining fee.

Using these three signposts, choosing a good money making opportunity should be easier. You now know what to look for in a company. Your decisions will not be based off hype but on pure facts.
