3 Step Plan To Finding A Work At Home Transcription Job
In general, I think it's safe to say that most Americans are not stupid people
, nor are they bad people. It doesn't seem that way much of the time, because many of the newspapers, magazines, and 6 o'clock news stories are saturated with tales of people who have either made stupid mistakes or have committed acts with bad intentions.
The Internet as well has become a medium which seems full of people trying to take advantage of you, or at least benefit from your lack of knowledge. Most people have a story that includes them, or someone they know, being taken advantage of online. I once tried to buy a textbook from someone online - I transferred the money and never received the book. My mother purchased a discounted magazine subscription without realizing that she would automatically be signed up for other subscriptions to be debited from her account.
Neither of us are stupid or bad, and it could be argued that the person or companies that did these things to us weren't "bad" either, per se, perhaps just disorganized or misleading. But a lack of knowledge went a long towards these things happening to us, and in the case of a magazine subscription or a discounted textbook, maybe you can shrug your shoulders and decide, "Lesson learned."
But when it comes to a recessive economy, holiday time, and people trying to find work or needing extra money to make ends meet, those types of "learned lessons" can almost be too much to bear. But you don't need to make a ton of mistakes looking for work online before you find the "right way." There is a basic 3 step plan you can follow to make sure you're successful the first time.
The first step in the 3 step plan is to know what you're looking for. Don't idly search the Internet for any job - know specifically what you have in mind. That way you are far less likely to be derailed. For example, say you're looking for work at home transcription jobs. Search for companies or want ads that use those exact words - "work at home transcription." Don't be swayed by enticing ads that vaguely reference "work at home" or another job all together - if you weren't looking for it, and it somehow found you, that's probably because someone put it there to distract you from your goal.
The second step in the 3 step plan is to research the companies that are posting the positions. Is this a long established company that has good reports? Or is it very easy to find people complaining about the types of jobs this company offers? Go to the company's web page - read their "About Us" section. See if they list any awards or recognitions. In general, you're just checking to see if this is a fly-by-night operation, or a reliable company.
Finally, the last step in the 3 step plan is to never pay to apply for a job. Many jobs will require you to purchase certain equipment to be successful when working from home. Work at home transcription, for example, will often require you to have certain types of computer software and a transcription machine. But the companies should point you in the right direction toward acquiring your equipment, not require you to buy it from them. And remember, no reliable company will ever require you to pay a third party to fill out a job application.
