Like a lot of couples you probably thought (or at least hoped) that those feelings of love would carry you through any problems
. In the meantime you and your significant other would continue building the foundation to make sure this relationship endured and got better as time went along.
Unfortunately it did not. And while the two of you put in the work essential to making the relationship a strong one for whatever reason you still broke up.
But the two of you were good for each other and in your opinion it's time to try again. You promise yourself that you will not make the same mistakes and you mean to turn that promise into stone cold reality.
That's great news but there are some things that need to be taken care of first.
1. Apologize
Unless one person was so over the top in their attitude and behavior (in which case you really would not want them back) the chances are both of you made mistakes. You cannot control the actions of your ex but you can express regret for what you did. This is very important when it comes to reconnecting with your ex. Love may cover a multitude of sins but by not acknowledging the things that caused the problems in the first place your attempts and getting back with you ex will remain on shaky ground.
2. Lose The Pride
Your ex may not apologize the same time you do. They might not apologize at all. Things like that do not thrill the human ego. You took a step toward reconciliation now it's up to them to do the same thing. Except when it comes to rekindling relationships it does not always work like that. Therefore you may have to eat a helping or two of humble pie in the beginning stages of trying to get your ex back.
3. Listen
There's a tendency when the other person speaks that we want to make our point immediately. In the process we don't really listen to what they are saying. Getting your ex back means at some point there is going to be a conversation where they want to talk vent or whatever. Be ready to give them your undivided attention. Be slow to respond and when you do ask questions. Nothing accusatory. Just probing questions that get them to open up even more. They will greatly appreciate it.
