Planning to buy a new phone but don't know where to begin with

? Since there are always something new with cellphones and more coming out each month, how do you choose the best one for you? To avoid any confusion, make sure that you follow the tips we have laid out for you when it comes to purchasing the best phone that will fit your needs.

Do the checklist before you choose a phone and ask yourself these questions first:

1. What functions you want versus what you need.

Okay, everyone knows that the most basic and important function of a mobile phone is to send texts and receive or make calls. Now, going beyond the basics of the mobile phones, what else or other functions do you want?

Would you want a phone that has e-book readers, video and media players, mp3, loudspeaker, wifi, VGA calls, games and others. List the features that you need versus those of what you want. Often times, mobile phones with more features and extras are tad pricey compared to ones that are limited in features. So do you want a phone that can mimic the functions of your electronic gadgets? Or do you want a simple phone. Go for phones with functions that you WILL use and not those that are unnecessary. You don't want to waste your money on a phone with ultimate functions that you even rarely use.

2. Check for the Sound.

Where do you live? Where do you usually go? Do you happen to make calls in a very noisy setting? Check the volume, see if the highest volume can be strong enough to be heard on your standards. Turn up the volume and check for the volume control, does it easily respond? Is it functional, user friendly? Make sure that the volume of the phone can be heard and is adequate for you. Check if the sounds are clear when you listen or hear recordings. Some phones have that noise reduction feature which enables your phone to have clear sound.

3. Check the LCD display or Screen.

Check the display and colors on the screen. The display or the main screen is one of the most essential features in a mobile phone. Make sure that the display is well lit and readable and that the light is good enough even when there is difficult lighting conditions. You should learn to examine this while you are on the store or shop yourself. If you would want a phone with a color display, be aware that a color display varies from one phone to another. If you want to watch videos and pictures, a good resolution for that is "65,000 color". This means that the higher the number, then the better photo color quality. Do you want a big screen? Do you want a smaller screen? Having a bigger screen helps you to view photos and pictures better, makes you see the menus better than the smaller ones. Refer to your personal choices and needs when it comes to the functionalities.

Now these are just the first, most basic functions that you should look for in a phone. Think of what you would need rather than what you want. If you are on a budget, better pick phones that have good qualities, durability but can still deliver. If you are looking for a phone that has extra gadgets and functions then always do some checking on the specifications and compare prices before you decide to purchase.
