Summer weddings get more spotlight than winter ones and its why brides-to-be are often short on winter wedding ideas
. They resort to taking ideas from the holidays and even though it works, it leaves the wedding look something like Santas work shop. Here are three ways of having a nice festive wedding reception without too many ornaments or too much tinsel.
Colors
Holly green and berry red are two colors that are associated with Christmas. If you dont want too much of Christmas going on, try and stay away from these colors or just use either one. Dont be afraid to use other colors but keep them in a deep and darker tone. With summer, its the fabric and material that matters but in winter, the fabric finish matters more. A sleek satin or a velvety matte finish will look best.
Comfort
If you can have the wedding in a nicely heated place than your guests and brides maids are free to wear anything and everything thats in fashion. Make sure the venue is comfortable even if you have to use throw pillows and cushions! Dont crowd things at the table, use singular piece centerpieces for wedding tables instead of multiple piece sets. While flowers are likely to be out of budget, there are plenty of alternative like fruit bouquets and fruit arrangements that are available.
The invites and favors
Invites tend to be much more formal for winter weddings and can be a great way to set the theme for your wedding. Use your wedding colors, textured cards and calligraphy to make the invitation stand out. Wedding favors like ornaments are occasion specific, you can alternate with scented candles or fruit favors.
