It's the same old annoying story: you get right in the middle of something and someone knocks on the door, the kids start to shout, the phone rings, something breaks, you run out of supplies, or you stumble across something that you have to bring to a halt what you're doing to handle or deal with. Interruptions are what you might call them, But I look at them as my housework's number one foe. Many people view housework as uncomplicated tasks to the extent that they will view you as not fully occupied and think less of asking you to bring to a halt for their benefit. Life just won't go on hold while we clean. If I yield to all the interruptions, I'll suffer a mortal efficiency loss, besides being depressed.

Here are the top 3 things you can do to rule interruptions:

1.Wield your cleaning tools at unpopular times - late, early, during mealtime, on holidays - the times when everyone else is playing, eating or sleeping. This exactly during rush hours. You can do your cleaning during these times and expect to lose an hour worth of interruptions. Decide those times, take a hold of your cleaning tools and use them.

2. Clean in quick time fragments - Cleaning doesn't always have to be one giant project or a long session. Allocate lesser time on cleaning. Some of the best cleaning sessions I've done were all completed within just a small amount of time. Allocating ten to fifteen minutes for your cleaning is much more difficult to disrupt than a 3 hour cleaning session. It is all about wise budgeting of your time. If you just take advantage of the 5-minute or 15-minute time fragments that fall your way daily, you may never have to spend all Saturday cleaning again!

3.Don't give in - simply say no. Interruptions do always require our YES. The phone for example - when it rings, most people dash to get it as though they were possessed. The fact of the matter is, there have only been a few instances of emergency calls. When I'm right up on a ladder painting, or in the middle of pouring cement, and someone comes by or calls, stopping would be a real problem. Or if I'm on something equally tasking, I wouldn't want to bring to an end, I would just continue my work.

Let me share a little secret with you about interruptions while clearing clutter: Once you decline to lay your life and time out at will to passing salespeople, friends and family, they will start to curb their impositions on you and adjust their timetables.
