The hype about 3D movies has grown manifold since the super success of Avatar, which was released in 2009. Since then, plenty more have come out, all trying to renew the magic of James Cameron's blockbuster Avatar. However not all could achieve that kind of phenomenal success. Listed below are the latest 3d movies that have somewhat managed to do so:

Arabia 3D (2010) a magnificent tale of the ancient history of Arabia. It follows a 22 year old student who after returning from the States with a degree in filmmaking sets out to make a movie on his native country.

Alice in Wonderland (2010) Inspired by Lewis Carroll's famous fantasy, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, this film follows the story of young Alice who accidentally falls into a rabbit hole and is transported to the world of the Underland. There she helps to end the reign of the Red Queen by slaying the Jabberwocky, a dragon like huge creature and restores the good white queen to power. The film was converted from 2D to 3D before its release on March 5th.

How to Train your Dragon (2010) A very endearing story about a little Viking boy who befriends a dragon and has plenty of adventures thereafter.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010) - A fantasy-adventure story of two children and a disbelieving kid who travels to the world of Narnia and help King Caspian in his quest to rescue the seven lost lords.

Piranha in 2010 A horror story a group of strangers coming together to save the neighbours and other residents of the area from these man-eating fishes (piranhas).

The other hits of 2010 were Toy Story 3, Tangled, Step Up 3D and Beauty and the Beast

However not every movie that has come out in 3D in the past year achieved success. Even so, the percentage of successful 3D movies is far greater than those that have flopped. One of the reasons that can be accounted for the success of 3D movies is these movie easily grab the attention of the younger crowds by making them feel as though the animation is practically real. Which in a way implies that the use of the three dimensional technology in films for a more life-like experience is surely here to stay for many more years to come.
