3g Cell Phones: Not Ready To Be Replaced
4G, which is also known as "fourth generation"
, deals with the replacement of third generation or, 3G Cell Phones in the wireless industry.
It is the next generation in line for cell phones and related devices. As of now, everything is not set in place, so the term is used for marketing purposes at the moment. The communications industry has not yet come to a conclusion as to the part that 4G will actually play in the industry.
When it is set in place, this level of communication will be more powerful than 3G Cell Phones.
It is considered to be the next evolution and replace 3G Phones in the wireless industry. Another group of devices looking to takeoff are Prepaid Cell Phones. These are already popular in Europe and becoming popular in US. This is because, with Prepaid Cell Phones, one is not bound to a long term contract, rather they are on a pay as you go plan.
But let's go back to the 4G. There are already a few mobile phone providers that have stepped into the next generation. They are still testing and looking to expand soon. 4G will be used to access the internet on your computer and supporting communications for mobilephones. This will be what the majority of this system will deal with.
Home broadband connections will be available for those who will not have 4G access or the access is not strong enough to use. Using these connections will eliminate the cabling process. People will be able to use the internet while they are on the go without having to set up in wireless areas such as airports, and coffee shops.
The growth of 4G is projected to surpass that of 3G Cell Phones. Very surprising considering the great history of 3G. One of the reasons will be due to the cost. The subscriber growth will be quicker than what it was when 3G emerged. Even though 4G will cost more in the beginning, it will not require as many components as its current predecessor did. With fewer components, there will be a decrease in cost for the consumer. The verdict on Prepaid Cell Phones is still to be determined.
It has been predicted that within four years 4G will surpass the 100 million mark with subscribers within four years. That would beat the 3G network by two years; it took six years to reach that point.
So, will 4G be better than 3G? From the looks of it, 4G is poised to be on the cutting edge of technology that will surpass the previous generations of technology. As far as prepaid phones are concerned, only time will tell.
