4 Activities To Avoid When Going Through A Breakup

The moment you break up with someone, a certain amount of pain manifests

, and it must be felt. It can't be bottled up, run from or ignored. It's an energy, and it has to be released in the form of you just feeling bad for a while. That being said, while you shouldn't try to ignore that pain, you certainly should not add to it! Which is just what you'll do if you do this after a breakup.

Guys who are into you

When you were in a relationship, you had someone making you feel special and loved every single day. And now, that's gone. Do not run to the arms of a guy who you know has a crush on you for a listening ear and for someone to make you feel loved and special. You'll only end up feeling worse because you got this man's hopes up. If you need somebody to fill that gaping hole of love, spend time with your best friend.

Your "who cares" friend

We all have that friend who somehow carries on an extremely emotionally stunted life of breaking up with one person and being out on the town meeting guys the very next day. Who knows how she pulls it off, but you won't be able to. You will be so tempted to hang out with that friend because she's itching to help you ignore your pain with some cocktails and flirty guys. But, you will get up to the awful realization you were just avoiding your problems. Be with your buddies who are honest with you and care for your wellbeing. They'll sympathize with you, but they won't try and make you just forget things.

Nightclubs

These seem like a great distraction except for one problem: at a legitimate night club with DJ's and dance floors, trying to converse with someone is nearly impossible with the raging music and people bumping up against you. Before you know it, it's just you, the music and your thoughts. And guess where they will take you? Go to a more relaxed bar if you want to get out.

The self-help section

My friend taught herself how to sing completely via self-help books. Today, she is a voice coach and makes a great living giving singing lessons. Because of this, she's addicted to that kind of literature. And after going through her last breakup, she believe self-help books were the answer to all her problems and ran up a large bill at Barnes and Noble. But the hard fact is that, no book will lessen the duration of your heartache. No author can bring you to any conclusions that you'll actually remember after turning the page. Sure, you could feel better while skimming that book, but the second you shut it, you realize you're still alone in that bed and your broken heart. And those just have to live out their life span.
