Most people would likely place their fire extinguisher near a fireplace or a kitchen stove. While this may sound good this is actually a bad idea. Why? When a fire breaks out, you want to put it out immediately. Keeping extinguishers near a fire prevents you from using them effectively rendering them useless.

Instead, you want to place them near doors and in hallways and corridors. That way they are within easy reach in case of emergencies. If you can, put some fire extinguisher signs for easy identification.

DO NOT Hide It

These things may save lives but they are not exactly the prettiest things in your house. However, this does not mean that you should hide it from view. You want to put out a fire as fast as possible and prevent it from spreading. Easy and fast access to fire extinguishers lets you save your home from destruction. Never hide them inside closets or behind furniture.
