If you are like many other people, you may buy jewelry and never consider where you will store jewelry at home

. While shopping you will be concentrating on the worth of the jewelry piece you are considering. It may not occur to you that you need a proper storage area for jewelry until much later when you are at home.

I have had many friends tell me stories of how their jewelry has been ruined because their pieces were stored improperly. Jewelry needs adequate room and space when not used. If they are all bunched up, they will only end up scratching against each other and perhaps even leaving marks and scrapes. The best way to keep your expensive jewelry looking great is to properly storage them.

While you are searching for a good storage space, there are some things you need to remember. You want something that confines your jewelry yet offers enough space. Remember not to store it where it may be exposed to humidity, since it can cause rust. Here are some ideas to consider when you want to store jewelry at home.

Rather than go out to buy a special jewelry box, I want something that can store my jewelry on top of my dresser. I made my own by using a clean dry box to organize my jewelry. You can determine a suitable box by knowing how many pieces you have.

Choose a good container with many small compartments. You can separate the pieces and never have to worry about scratches and chips. However, jewelry is fragile and you will need to properly care for it and store it safely when you want it to last you for years to come.

If you have a lot of jewelry pieces, then perhaps creating your own storage location is not a good idea. You may have to look around for something vast enough to hold it all. This doesn't mean can't be creative and put your jewelry in an attractive jewelry case. Find one that compliments your jewelry. For example, I have a huge collection of jewelry charms for my various charm bracelets. Because the charms I own are mostly gold, I had to stick with a gold jewelry box to follow the theme.

Regardless of what you might use for jewelry storage, remember that it is fragile and it deserves the best of care. They get dirty quickly when you wear them. Make sure that you clean them regularly and store them properly and you will be able to enjoy wearing your jewelry pieces for many years to come.
