4 List Marketing Tips To Keep Your Subscribers Loyal And Responsive

So you've built a decent sized list

So you've built a decent sized list. Congratulations! But that's only half the battle, because aside from building a list, an equally important priority is to stop them from unsubscribing.

You have to keep your subscribers hanging on to your every word and awaiting your every email if you want to develop a solid, long-term income source.

Here are some proven tips to keep your subscribers loyal and responsive to your messages.

List Marketing Tip # 1: Be Attentive.

You should be very attentive to your subscriber's needs and wants. They signed up to your list because you offered something they believed in and saw great value in it.

You need to keep that up by following up with them. After they've gotten your report or whatever you offered, send them a secondary email asking them how they liked it, if there's any questions you could answer for them, or if there's anything you could do for them.

If any of your subscribers sends you an email with a question in it, then take the time to answer it fully. Don't just leave them waiting. If they wait too long they may begin to think you are unreliable; or worse, an automated machine or computer. In this case, they may unsubscribe from your list because they expect a breathing human being to help them, not a robot.

Even if they just shoot you a quick email to say thank you and your report was great, respond to them. You don't have to write them a ten page letter, just simply respond saying something like: "I am happy I could help and I'm glad you enjoyed my report. I'll be sure to keep you updated on every good opportunity I find."

Something small like that will make your subscriber's feel like you really want to take care of them that that they are in good hands. That's a comforting feeling that will keep them on your list.

List Marketing Tip # 2: Don't Overload Your Subscribers.

When your subscribers opt-in, they are expecting a certain amount of email. In some cases it'll be a week-long mini-course or a couple of reports over the next few days. Or it could be a once a week newsletter.

Whatever the number is, they will appreciate it if you tell them the frequency of your mailings; but most important of all, stick to your schedule. If you tell your list they will be getting X amount of mail from you, make sure they get X amount of emails.

It's ok if you have an additional special offer and you send them an extra email, but don't overdo it.

If you send your list 20 emails a week, you're likely to lose some subscribers whether your offers are fantastic or not. No one wants to open their inbox and be completely overloaded with emails.

It's important to build a trusting relationship with your list; and if you send them too much mail, they are going to get too swamped and most likely will unsubscribe. Stay on track and keep your numbers relatively low.

Again, it's ok to send them one or two extra but be very careful not to overload them.

List Marketing Tip # 3: Provide More Than Just a Link.

When you mail your list, there's going to be a link in it somewhere pointing them to some product or offer. That's all fine and dandy, but you need to provide them with more than just that link.

For example, if you are promoting a product in the email, give them a small review of the product and then lead them to a page with a more extensive review.

This will make your subscribers feel like they are really getting a decent view of what this product is and they won't feel forced to buy.

People like seeing reviews and knowing what's up before they dive in. This also instills that trust you need in your list. When you write an honest review especially one where you share some flaws in the product they would think that you really care about their well-being, that you took the time to delve into the product to expose its pros and cons.

If you simply send your list a paragraph and a link to a product, there's a pretty good chance they're going to feel like you are just trying to sell them something and might unsubscribe.

You don't want them to feel like you are trying to sell them something; you want them to feel like you are helping them make the right decision in improving a certain aspect of their lives.

List Marketing Tip # 4: Ask Your List What They Need Or Want.

This actually serves two purposes, the first of which is it instills trust. You need this trust otherwise you're never going to keep a subscriber.

When you ask what they need rather than just handing them something, they will believe you truly care about their needs. Not only will they stay on your list, but they might even refer others to your list as well.

The second thing it does is that it helps you better understand what their needs or wants actually are. There's always a chance that you are not giving your list what they really want.

You may be hitting close to the bulls-eye, but still missing just a little bit. But when you ask your list what they need or want, then you are going to get a much better idea of what you should continue to offer them.

This will help your subscribers feel more like yours is the perfect list to be on, and it will also help you market to your list by better understanding their preferences.

Apply these excellent tips now to keep your subscribers happy and satisfied to be on your list.
