There are plenty of activities for kids in Krabi

While the province does not exactly have a zoo, it offers children the chance to interact closely with nature, thanks to its lush environment and national parks. 1. Elephant Camps

While it is getting harder to come across an elephant in the wild, these fascinating animals are the central feature to trekking camps. Camps which offer elephant treks must adhere to the strict guidelines of the National Livestock Department for caring for these gentle giants. A one hour ride on the elephant is usually combined with sightseeing tours where, apart from seeing beautiful scenery, the kids can also experience an elephant's natural forest environment.

2. Krabi's outdoor aquarium

The Thai government's Coastal Resource Management Unit is a little-known attraction located in Ao Nam Mao. The center breeds marine animals for research and conservation, most of which are eventually released back to the sea to boost local populations. Endangered species like the harmless black tip reef shark, Hawksbill sea turtles, and popular fish like the anemone clown fish can be seen via a specially designed observation deck. The stock constantly changes according to season and which species need to be bred. Entrance is free of charge and the center is open daily from 9 am to 4.30 pm.

3. Krabi's numerous caves

A large part of the province's physical composition is limestone. As such, Krabi has a lot of caves that can be explored.
