Fusion video is the combination of video clips with photos to make a video montage. These types of videos have been recently gaining in popularity, and here are a few of the biggest reasons.
New Media Combination
Any time two types of media come together, it's bound to generate some buzz. Both photographers and consumers have started to flock to the new style of video. Having a single video include work from both photographer and videographer is getting the best of both worlds.
Shorter Video
The combination videos tend to be shorter than anything unedited because usually it's the best of both combined into a highlight reel. With only the best material, there's more of a wow factor, and no one is forced to sit through a long chunk of boring footage before getting to the good stuff.
Better Storytelling
Sometimes a single image communicates more than minutes of captured video, so spicing up clips with a photo can make a big difference in telling a story. A photographer often works hard to cram emotion and passion into a single shot, and that can often clearly show a point that would require more work or would be impossible otherwise.
Technology
With digital cameras now allowing you to shoot high quality video, many photographers are picking up videography too. Some of the recent cameras even have HD recording capabilities. While there is still a long way to go in making any camera able to compete with a professional camcorder, there have recently been major strides to make getting short clips relatively easy using an SLR.
