4 Scholarships To Help You Complete Your Nursing Program
Any job in the medical field is important, not to mention often critical because it deals with a person's life, and nursing jobs are no different
. To be able to work as a nurse you have to satisfactorily complete a nursing program and get a license. The programs can include diplomas, from two years for an Associate's Degree to four years for a Bachelor's, then on to a Master's Degree.
The following four scholarships can help you with financial aid.
*Nursing Scholarship Program: If you are already admitted in any undergraduate program on a full-time basis, this scholarship, sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration will pay all your eligible fees including the cost of books, uniforms etc. and grant a stipend of $1,289 per month. In return you will have to work at a facility facing nurse shortages, for two years. This need-based aid is for all United States citizens who do not have any family contribution as indicated in the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA).
*Nurses Educational Funds, Inc (NEF): This scholarship is based on merit, where the NEF gives out a number of scholarships from general or named funds. To be eligible, besides the mandatory academic superiority, you have to be a registered nurse and a nursing association member. Also you must be enrolled in an accredited Master's Degree nursing program with minimum 3.6 GPA and 12 credits.
*American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA): If you are a member of AHNA, and enrolled in a holistic nursing program, then you can apply for the Charlotte McGuire Scholarship. Also you must have some experience in holistic nursing and a 3.0 GPA. Please note, while applying for an undergraduate and graduate scholarship, you should have been an AHNA member for six and twelve months respectively. Grants can also be applied for in research and for conferences sponsored by AHNA.
*American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN): If you are looking for a career in occupational and environmental health nursing, then AAOHN has a number of scholarships for your benefit. Different scholarships can be availed for in research, completing a graduate or bachelor program or even continuing education for further development in the profession. The amount of grant ranges between $1,500 and $10,000. Besides specific eligibility criteria, you have to submit a narrative relevant to your scholarship.
