Secondly, effective linking is very important
Google and other search engines look at a blog post and if the post has linking to it then the search engine generally assumes that the post has more authority than others. Don't just assume that having links incoming will improve ranking, Google also looks at the words and links exactly.
Links to generic terms and services will not raise your ranking in the way that links to a specific branded product will. This is the outer link. A more popular site will be sending untold quantities of traffic to your blog post. Also place links within your post to other pages in your site, which is internal linking. It will make a positive difference to your page rank but take care not to go over the top with it. This is because not only will humans on your post be put off by the constant links, but Google may also penalize you.
Thirdly, Correct Tagging Moderation
Each good blog posting services allows you to add tags to your post. This is so that your post can be organized so that both search engines and audiences can find what they're about.
This is good for page ranking but only if done correctly and in moderation. Placing your post into categories can bring in traffic from people looking for other things in the same category as where your blog post is.
