4 Ways To Save Money By Removing Unnecessary Services From Your Life
Whilst technology has meant that we can now live a life that is a lot easier and
less laborious and tiresome than our ancestors', it does mean that we tend to hand over a lot of our hard earned cash in return.
If you're looking to save money, take a look through these 4 services which although you might use regularly and think you rely on, can be removed from your life without much trouble.
1. A home phone - IEEE Computer found in 2009 that just over 4.5 billion people had access to a mobile phone, 300 times more than 2 decades earlier.
As mobile phones are one of the most prolific pieces of technology in the world, many people have started asking themselves whether they need a separate home phone.
Paying out around 12 pound a month in line rental for a home phone, as well as any calls that are made (which if you don't have any type of inclusive minutes can be around 20 pound a month for regular local calls alone), it seems somewhat pointless if you're also paying out 35 pound a month for a mobile phone that has unlimited texts and minutes.
2. Fully Comprehensive car insurance - it's generally accepted that Fully Comprehensive car insurance is the level of cover that you should always take out, as it covers you in all eventualities.
However, due to this extensive level of cover, it is also the most costly and people often stretch themselves to afford it just so they have that peace of mind.
If you only use your car for a short commute to and from work in off peak hours, though, you will generally be able to benefit from just having Third Party, Fire and Theft insurance.
3. Dry cleaning - if you're someone who works in an industry where a suit and tie is required on a daily basis, the cost of keeping your clothes in a good condition can extremely high, as although your shirts are likely to be able to be washed at home, your suit jacket and trousers will have to be dry cleaned.
Whilst sending them to dry cleaners is the easiest way to do this, it's also the most expensive and what most people don't realise is that you can actually dry clean your suits at home.
All you have to remember is that you must always wash them by hand, never use hot water or standard detergents and when drying, lay them down in such a way that they aren't stretched.
It may take a little time, but it will save you a lot of money.
4. Gym membership - if you have a gym membership, it's likely that you're paying at least 30 or 40 pound a month. However, it's also likely that every exercise you carry out can actually be done outside of the gym for free.
Using the treadmill is the most obvious exercise, as walking, running or jogging can be done anywhere, but even exercises aimed at muscle development in your arms and shoulders can be carried out at home, either through press ups or pull ups using an inexpensive pull up bar.
