4x4 News: Land Rover Reach Record Sales

The latest chapter in the Land Rover supremacy comes in the form of the disclosure

of record sales in March, which reached 11,000 vehicles sold in one month since the brand was founded in 1948. According to the telegraph website, the British-based manufacturer now exporting across the world, has enjoyed a strong run globally so far this year, benefitting from the stabilising of the economy and the snow that engulfed the UK.

The efficient technologically advanced line-up of vehicles has played a part in ensuring a continued demand for the Land Rover brand, with global retail sales rising in March by more than 43%. March has become the busiest month for sales in the UK since 1999, when, along with September, it was established as the month when new number plates are launched, according to the Telegraph website.

The unexpected success has led Land Rover Managing Director Phil Popham to say Land Rover UK has had an incredible start to 2010, with March seeing an all-time record in our home market which is extremely encouraging.

LiverpoolDailyPost.co.uk has reported that last month was also the seventh consecutive month of improvement for Land Rover, signalling an increasingly stable marketplace after the credit crunch deterred consumers from buying vehicles.

The Land Rover is the ubiquitous means of travel through the harshest terrain for both the adventurer and the local who needs a solid reliable vehicle to negotiate tricky roads on a daily basis. Being so easily adaptable, the Land Rover has huge appeal over an immense array of demographics with the legendary 4x4s winning the respect of both hardcore off-road enthusiasts and those looking for a dependable sturdy mean machine.

It has been reported that the performance of Land Rover is more commendable because it has barely benefitted from the UK scrappage scheme. The Telegraph website reports that the Freelander and Defender models have been relatively popular, but out of 400,000 vehicles allocated for the scheme, less that 2,000 sold were Land Rover. The March sales figures have cemented the belief that Land Rover doesnt need schemes to help them sell their iconic 4x4 vehicles.
