5 Activites To Do After You Quit Smoking
If you are reading this, you have embarked or at least are thinking about embarking on a path that involves no smoking. But first, here are some facts: According to the Center for Disease Control(CDC), cigarette smoking is responsible for 443,000, or one of every five American deaths every year. That is equivalent to roughly ten Wrigley Field stadiums filled to capacity! That being said, smoking is scientifically proven to be more difficult to quit than cocaine and other hard drugs. With odds like that stacked against us, what are we to do?
Luckily, I'm here to help. I've written a list of five activities to aid you along your journey to better health while maintaining sanity. This will be your "cheat sheet" to staying busy while not going completely crazy.
1. Get Reaquainted with your Ability to Read. Finding a book in a niche that interests you is a great way to keep your mind busy and off the thought of smoking. Great fiction series such as "The Hardy Boys" are written in a way that the reader is able to fully immerse his/her mind into the reading.
2. EXERCISE! This is a great way to keep not only your mind busy, but also your body. Throughout a workout, Endorphins are released in the brain, causing a slight state of euphoria commonly caused by smoking. It's a natural and healthy way to stimulate both your body and mind throughout the quitting process.
3. Dance the Night away. No, seriously. Dancing, like working out, releases Endorphins to the brain causing that same "buzz" effect. So put on some of your favorite old school rock or hip hop, and get ready to dance your way through this habit kick!
4. Take a Bubble Bath. As over-the-top as this sounds, taking a nice long bath will help loosen up your chest to get rid that "stuffed-up" feeling. So grab the nearest music source and put on some relaxing tunes of your choice and soothe that uncomfortable feeling away.
5. Do Puzzles. As aforementioned, keeping the mind busy during this stressful time is crucial. No matter what your preference is when it comes to puzzles or brain teasers, getting your mind off smoking can help you stay on your path to quitting smoking.
Smoking is one of the most dangerous addictions on the planet. When you quit smoking, you are reinvesting in your future on this planet. You must have the will to keep along your determined path. This small list of things to do when you quit smoking will help you to have fun while making this life-changing stressful decision.
