5 Approaches on Using Testimonials in a Sales Letter by:Paul Conway

Traffic will surely be generated to a site through traffic exchange when properly managed

. Once people are initially enticed, leaving their contact details in the opt-in list, the sales letter that will be sent must be compelling enough to lead them to a purchase. Such obliging sales letters include testimonials.

Testimonials are live endorsements of a certain product or service. They are the living proofs whether the product or service is good or bad. In a testimony, the credibility of the business is somehow boosted or regressed, depending on how the product or service is discussed. Having good testimonies in a sales letter could greatly help in increasing the traffic conversion rate. Here are 5 ways in effectively using testimonials.

1. Include photos and URLs under the name of the people who gave the testimony. It is a common knowledge that fake names can be created by anybody so it is best to have a photo and a URL with it. It could also be just a choice of the two. A photo is a proof that it is the person who gave the testimony. A URL is a proof that such person exists as it has an active site, which can be cross checked by the viewers. This adds credibility to the business as there are people saying positive things about it. When receiving a testimonial, it is better to get the photos and URLs of the people submitting it.

2. Audio or video shall be added if possible. The existence of audio or video testimony adds integrity to the testimony. Not only does the person show his or her name, photo, and URL, but even the voice and even their faces while talking about it. This serves as an exclusive evidence of a person getting positive results out of the business. The viewers could also relate to how the people giving their testimonies speak about the product or service as they hear them tell their own stories; thus creating the urge to have the same experience and making a purchase.

3. The testimonial text must be set within a box filled with light yellow or gray color. Throughout the years, light yellow is the best color to be set as a background for testimonies. It somehow highlights the text, making it more pleasing to read. On the other hand, gray can be used if light yellow will greatly contrast the page's color scheme.

4. A sales letter may have numerous testimonials. If there are enough testimonials that would really sound encouraging to viewers, then all of them can be spread on the sales page. The strongest among them could be just below the main sub headline, and the others could be laid out throughout the page with their own sub headlines that would be convenient to read.

If there are just a few testimonials, better place them in the middle section of the sales letter. In this way, the testimonies speak out what is best about the business, product, or service.

5. The testimonials must speak about the benefits the person experienced from the product or service. It must not just contain praises for the owner of the business because of the good things the person got from it. The viewers are of course interested with knowing what they can get out of the business as well.

These are 5 very good points in including testimonials within the sales letter. Keeping a note of these will help organize testimonies within the page, giving higher chances of increasing the traffic conversion rate. This is surely best when free traffic is highly generated towards the site.
