5 International Music Festivals You Won't Want to Miss

Music makes the world go round. If you're lucky, it can also take you around the world. These 5 international music festivals will give you a reason to renew your passport in 2011.

All Tomorrow's Parties, UK

All Tomorrow's Parties is an organization that holds music festivals with bands selected by a "guest curator," usually another band or musician. While they now organize concerts and festivals all over the world, they've been holding an annual festival in Somerset in the United Kingdom since 1999. The festival, which happens each May, draws an indie crowd.

Glastonbury, UK

This large music festival has been going on since June of 1970. While it's become a somewhat mainstream institution, with headliners as diverse as Radiohead and Jay-Z, Glastonbury is not to be missed.

InMusic Festival, Croatia

This festival is the new up-and-coming destination for music fans from Europe and around the world. The setting, on an island in the middle of a lake, is stunning, and past headliners have included Serj Tankian, formerly of System of a Down, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The lineup for 2011 has already been announced, and includes hip-hop legends Cypress Hill along with newly minted Grammy winners Arcade Fire.

Fuji Rock, Japan

Japan's Fuji Rock festival is held at the scenic Naeba Ski Resort, making it possibly the only music festival where guests get around by ski lift. 2011's acts include Incubus, Coldplay, the Arctic Monkeys and the Chemical Brothers.

Roskilde Festival, Denmark

This is another festival that dates back to the 70's 1971 to be precise. Past headliners have included everyone from Bob Marley to Nine Inch Nails. The Roskilde organizers have also turned streaking into an art with their "Naked Run" competition to see who can run fastest in the buff. 2011's lineup includes Iron Maiden, MIA and PJ Harvey.

To check out these festivals, you'll need more than tickets. You'll also need a passport, so make sure to apply for your new passport or passport renewal well in advance. Processing takes 6 weeks or longer unless you pay the $60 expediting fee. Even then, it takes at least 3 weeks. If you need it faster, you have two options: make an appointment at one of 22 regional passport agency offices or use a private passport expediting company like RushMyPassport to get your application processed within 24 hours.
