5-Minute Sauteed Kale
How many superfoods do you include in your diet? If you don't already eat kale, then you should as it is a nutritional powerhouse. Kale greens are fantastic for you, plus I think they're super tasty. Kale is a dark leafy green, like collard greens or spinach. It is very tough and fibrous, so I have found that cooking kale is preferable over leaving it raw. I find that it has a rich, slightly bitter taste that goes well with stronger flavors like garlic. Cooking kale is super easy, and unlike other greens kale needs a longer cooking time to break down.
This dark leafy green is perfect for hearty soups, and steamed kale is also delicious, but my absolute favorite way to cook the stuff is via a simple saute. If you're new to this dark leafy green and you're looking to eat kale more frequently, then this super simple recipe is ideal. Just adjust the seasonings to your liking and serve over brown rice or noodles.
5-Minute Sauteed Kale
Cooking Time: 4-6 minutes
Serves: 2-4
Ingredients:
2 bunches kale, chopped
Vegetable oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1-2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Black pepper, freshly cracker
Red chili flakes, to taste (optional)
Instructions:
Heat a a large pan over medium-high heat. While the pan is heating up, chop and wash your kale.
Once the pan is hot, add the oil and then add all your kale. Keep in mind that kale, like any other green, will shrink once cooked.
Once the kale is wilted after a few minutes, add your garlic and spices and cook for 1 more minute.
Turn off the heat, remove the kale from the pan, serve and enjoy.
See, cooking kale greens really is that easy. I think people become intimidated by some super-healthy foods like kale that they have never cooked or eaten before. I know I was like that, but with kale greens this shouldn't be the case! This healthy side dish recipe could not be easier to make, and it's just chock full of vitamins and minerals. I love to eat kale, and this incredibly easy cooking method makes cooking kale an absolute breeze!
