Many beginners pick these cameras due to their convenience and affordability, which is absolutely fine if you're only intending to use it for non-professional or artistic purposes. If you want to take excellent photographs, you need the right equipment and you need to be committed to always learning new things.

The main things that are important is that you create good photography habits when you shoot and that you never stop challenging yourself to do better - the rest will come over time.
