5 Reasons Why You Should Move To Canada

The United Kingdom may not be a bad part of the world to live in

. We have a completely free health service, some of the best universities in the world and our nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita is particularly high at 35,334 US dollars.

However, for all its benefits, the country does have a lot of its faults and tens of thousands of people realise this on an annual basis, deciding to pack up their bags and apply for a Canadian work visa.

If you're tired of life in the UK and have considered applying for a Canadian work visa yourself, the following 4 points are all fantastic reasons why you should make the move to Canada.

1. Their economic future looks brighter - when the coalition government of the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties was announced on 11 May 2010, one of the very first points they made was that the country was in such as a dire financial state, an Emergency Budget was required.

This Budget was explained in all of its detail to the public on 22 June 2010 and as was expected, featured some harsh - but arguably necessary - aspects.

With VAT rising to 20% and cuts of almost all public sector budgets by 25%, the coming years look relatively bleak for the UK and so whilst it may not be a difficult feat to achieve, Canada's future looks a lot brighter than the UK's.

2. They aren't football mad... - ever since 11 June 2010, it seems that the whole of England have been devoting their attention to the 2010 World Cup.

Showing an average performance in their first match against the USA and a poor one against Algeria a week later, the team redeemed themselves in their third and final match of their group, securing a place in the final 16 of the tournament.

Now, for people who enjoy football, the World Cup is considered to be the pinnacle of the football calendar. For those who don't, however, it can be nothing short of extremely irritating, as pubs are packed when a match is on and you're favourite programs are more often than not rescheduled to provide coverage of the game.

3. ...although they do like their sports - whilst Canadians may not be overly keen on football (or soccer, as it is more commonly known across the Atlantic), they are huge fans of a variety of other sports.

With ice hockey being the most notable choice, the majority of Canadians who enjoy sport also follow basketball, American rules football, Canadian rules football, baseball and lacrosse, to name just the primary sports.

Football - or soccer - may not dominate their TVs, meaning you can get a break from it, but don't be surprised if your partner or family soon becomes enthralled by another type of sport.

4. Some of the world's most liveable cites are Canadian - each year, The Economist develops a list which includes all of the major cities in the world, ranked in order of their score against a set of criteria, including quality of living and international affairs.

Canada have always ranked high in the list, but in recent years they have gone on to, with Australia, dominate the top 10, with Vancouver taking the top spot with a staggering 98 points - only 2 points off a perfect score.

Vienna, Austria and Melbourne, Australia, make up the second and third spots respectively, but two more Canadian cities - Toronto and Calgary - come in at a very respectable fourth and fifth place.
