5 Reasons Why You Want To Make Your Own Website If You Are Starting Your Own Small Internet Business

I am often asked which is better - Building my own website or having a website built for me

? The truth is I now use both methods, but in the beginning I made all of my own websites. The problem was when I was starting out you needed to have a Harvard degree to figure this stuff out. Now even a five year old can build his own website.

Here are the five reasons of why when you are starting your own small internet business from home you want to use a website building program.

Control - Okay I want to make my point here by telling a quick story. When I was starting out as a small internet business owner I had a website built for the niche I was going to be competing in. The website was great, but the problem was that I was still in the process of honing my vision for the company. Subsequently I needed lots of edits and eventually my final website looked nothing like the original. Looking back this was a completely normal process, but at the time was way too costly to be able to keep this new small internet business venture afloat. I eventually obtained the rest of the funds needed to get the business off the ground, but that was almost five months later. The point is that had I built my own I could have made any of those edits within moments and not paid one dime extra. Plus I would not have to wait until my designer "got around to it." In the internet business world you can lose out on a lot of opportunity if you are reliant on someone else to do your web design.

Cost - If you are just staring your small internet business then you probably have limited capital. The average website will cost you between 1,000 and 4,000 to have made. Most good website building programs will cost an average of between $19.95 and $29.95 a month. The advantage here is that yes, you will eventually spend the same amount, but you will have a lot of time to become a successful small internet business owner before having to pony up the doe. Sometimes you will need special programming coded into your site that is not possible for you to do on your own. In these cases websites can cost upwards of $10,000 to have made. Again by at least having a basic website on the internet your small internet business you will have a "web presence," which is all you need to get started.

Flexibility - Most reputable web building programs have amazing flexibility. Need to write an article? No problem. Write one, paste it on a new web page, link it to your site and publish it. All cut and paste. Want to add a YouTube video to your main page? No problem. Just paste the code into the spot where you want your video, press the publish button and you're done. You can do anything within minutes when you use a website building software for your small internet business.

No Hosting Fees - This is a biggie. When you purchase a subscription for web building software it will usually come with unlimited free hosting. If you are planning on creating lots of pages for your site this could be a big money saver.

Fun- Perhaps I should have put this one first because if creating your own website does not sound like fun then perhaps starting your own small internet business is not for you. Almost every small home business owner needs to make multiple landing pages and "Squeeze pages" pointing to their website if it's going to be successful. Unless you have unlimited funds you will need to build your own. And if you don't build your own you are still going to need to be responsible for creating all the content that needs to be put on those pages. Personally I thoroughly enjoy building my own web pages and so does every small internet business owner I know. My best advice is if you are only doing this to make money then you will fail. There are plenty of ways to make money and you need to find one that you have some passion for doing.
