5 Tips For Giving A Good Presentation
Giving an excellent presentation is useful because at some point in your life you will probably have to give a presentation
. A good presentation can change your audience's perspective, and if it is good enough it can even change their life.
Here are a few useful tips to give a good presentation:
Tip #1 Look at the audience
This will make it more engaging for them. One of the tips of the professionals is to fix your point on something behind the audience, so that it appears like you are looking at them. This also ensures that you do not uncomfortably stare at any one person.
Tip #2 Make them laugh
There is so much good that can be said about this tip. Making your audience laugh helps them to find your presentation interesting. People are similar in so many ways. Think about it, what would you rather listen too? A presentation that is hilarious, but still presents solid facts. Or would you rather listen to a very serious, dull corporate presentation that only presents the facts?
Most people would much rather listen to a presentation that uses a little humor. Just be sure that you do it without sacrifice to fact. Using humor in your presentation livens it up, and gives it a little bit of flavor.
Tip #3 Articulate your words
When you articulate your words you sound more interesting and more lively. You can take it a step further and learn some power words, and use them in your presentation. Power words are words that conjure strong images in people's minds.
Tip #4 Differentiate yourself
You want to differentiate your presentation from everyone elses. For example, if you are giving a presentation on the Lewis and Clark Expedition you could wear a coonskin cap and a fur coat. That would certainly separate you from the other presentations and make it memorable. Don't be afraid to make people laugh.
Tip #5 Avoid the umm and ahh monsters
Cut these two words out of your vocabulary when giving a speech. It weakens your words, and makes you come off as less professional. It can be hard, but if you are aware of it you will eventually take it out.
A good presentation involves presenting: Solid facts, engaging style and offering a fun way of presenting information. If you can do those things and add in the tips you will give a good presentation.
