If you cannot find any fleas in your itching dog, then hay fever may be causing such itching. It can be cured by treating with antihistamine such as Benadryl. A precise dose will certainly solve out this problem but you need to consult with a Veterinarian before providing any medications to your dog.

An oatmeal bath

The problem of itching can be solved in a natural way as well. If you don't find any fleas but encounter your dog itching continuously, then wash him with oatmeal cleanser or mix colloidal oatmeal in the water.

You can purchase Aveeno which is one of the popular colloidal oatmeal that you can use. If you don't get colloidal oatmeal, then use regualar oatmeal by tieing it in an old sock so that the water can run through it.

Moisturizer

By using moisturizer like Alpha-Keri Oil, you can easily relive your dog from itchy skin. For an effective effect, you can either use it as after-bath rinse or dilute in the bath water as well.

Even one spoonful of Alpha-Keri Oil per gallon of water will be sufficient. You may also use it as a spray for your dog to solve out this problem.
