It does not matter what type of business you have

, what remains to be the key to success would be a good marketing strategy. And part of that is print marketing. It has been around for many decades but it its effectiveness cannot be denied. Marketers, both novice and veteran, continue to depend on it to help their business grow.

And with print alone there are many categories or options that you can turn to. There are the posters, brochures, direct mail, flyers, and even stickers and labels. You may also include here the traditional print advertisements in newspapers and magazines. And while you may say that print is on its way out because of the wide spread use of the Internet, what remains true is that there are markets that print can reach that even the web cannot.

So to help you get started, here are 5 very useful tips to help you with your print marketing strategy.

1. Always have a target market.


If you have studied even just the basics of marketing, then you will know the importance of having a clear understanding of who your target market is. Otherwise you do not know which people to interact with and which ones to attract so you can improve your sales. So before you do any form of marketing, you must first conduct a market research.

2. Decide what print medium would be best for your purpose.

There are many types of print media and I have enumerated some of these in the second paragraph of this article. It can be tricky when it comes to deciding which one is best for your campaign. The best way to approach this is to answer some of these questions. How will I distribute these brochures? Do I have enough budget for a full-color brochure? Is a flyer big enough to contain everything that I want to say to my customers?

3. Focus on the benefits of your product or service.

You do not hand out a flyer containing endless information about your company's history and how big your business is today. Your customers (or potential customers) do not care about such information. What they want to know are the benefits that they will get out of using your product or service.

4. Your design or graphics should have a purpose.


Do not add a picture of beautiful girl just because you think it would make your brochure look more attractive. While it may indeed get the attention of people (the men mostly), it is only for a moment because if the copy does not deliver as well as the image used, then your brochure will surely be heading to the trash bin. In short, the copy and image must work together.

5. Use high quality paper material.

For your print marketing to be very effective, it must be able to stay in good shape for a long time, especially if it is the type that can be passed on from one person to another. Think of flyers and brochures as examples of this. To achieve this goal, your paper of choice must be of very good quality so that it will not be easily dirtied, ripped or crumpled.
