Built-in detergent tanks are larger and harder for smaller people to maneuver, but they dont require you use an external detergent tanks. Some manufacturers make dual built-in detergent tanks as well. These are typically only seen with electric models.

External Detergent Tank

These are smaller and easier to maneuver for smaller people but they require you to use an external detergent tank. These are great for at-home use, are more affordable, and are typically only found with electric models.
