6 Reasons To Get Into The Ultrasound Technician Profession
If you are looking for a great opportunity to make a good living in an exciting field
, Ultrasound Technician Profession may be exactly the career of your choice. These technicians use sonic waves to determine what is going on inside a patient's body without the use of surgery. Here are six(6) areas for specialization, in a field that does not require licensing.
1. Echocardiography - Echocardiography is test that uses sound waves to literally create a computerized image of the heart, where you can see it actually beating. This procedure does not use X-rays, so you will not be exposed to radiation. It produces two dimension images that are used by the doctor to evaluate and determine the next course of action.
2. Breast sonography - Gone are the days of having to take a mammogram now that breast sonography is being used as an alternative. A breast sonogram is being used to detect early stages of cancer, and may be a more accurate method. Sonograms show forms of cancer that a mammogram will not, making these a painfree and perferred method of breast cancer detection.
3. Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN) sonography - With a specialty in Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN) sonography you can see a human baby moving around before it is even born, and detect if there are any abnormalities with the fetus or mother.
4. Abdominal sonography - If you specialize in abdominal sonography you will be making ultrasonic pictures of the solid organs of the abdomen, and detecting what may be of a questionable nature. These sonograms don't use radiation and therefore provide real time images of the organ, its blood vessels and movement.
5. Vascular technologists - Vascular technologists go a step beyond ECHO results by studying the arteries and vessels that surround the heat and lead away to the rest of the body. This is a very interesting field of study and helps detect possible heart attacks.
6. Neurosonography - Neurosonography is a field of specialization where you will study the nervous system and the brain. There are many applications were neuro-surgery is required to help a patient recover the use of a limb.
Being in the Ultrasound Technician Profession offers six possibilities for specialization and are currently not required to be licensed. Jobs are available at hospitals, and doctors offices are beginning to staff ultrasound technicians, as well. For a very lucrative career dealing with people from all walks of life, this could be the career you were hoping to find.
