6 Tips For Hosting A Non-Halloween Party

While Halloween was originally set aside as a day when evil walked the earth

, it doesn't have to be a day of frightening goblins, wicked witches, or satanic rituals. You don't have to boycott Halloween just because you're against hosting a party with creatures of the night.

You can host a fun holiday event this October with these 6 tips.

Choose a theme.

What was your favorite super hero as a child? Who was your favorite biblical character? If you could live in another era, what timeframe would you choose? Have you always wanted to live in another country?

Order invitations.

Your party will look more fun and inviting if your guests receive a fun invitation representing the theme of the party. Have your invitations printed on orange paper with black print. Use clip art that represents the theme of your party for the border of your invitation and fill the inside with items that represent the theme of your party.

Purchase food.

The food can set the entire mood of the event so make sure you don't settle for cold cuts and chips. Choose to authenticate the evening with the right appetizers, entrees, and desserts. A Hawaiian theme, for example, would be better with a pig roast, pineapples, and sugar cane.

Decorate around your theme.

Don't settle for orange and black crepe paper, Halloween characters hanging from the ceiling, or carved pumpkins. Spice up the evening with decorations that represent the theme of your party.
