7 Easy Tips To Keep Your Kids Interested In Learning Chinese
Through the use of multimedia you can help stimulate your childs interests in studying
. There are websites you can use to find free Chinese lessons through video and audio. You can sing and dance along to the videos or audios making the learning process fun for all. Finding out what is most appealing to your children like cartoons or animals that teach Mandarin will be more child friendly and fun than a person teaching them.
Visiting the local library and borrowing CDs, DVDs, books and games that teach Mandarin can be a great help to your children. You should make the most of all the free mediums that help them learn chinese. Getting them involved in other activities that include Chinese things can help expand their interests for example: things about China, Chinese food or Chinese history and art. Borrow documentaries about China and watch them with your Children and discuss the things you have seen and learned.
You should show your kids that you are interested in learning Chinese yourself, because you are your kids first teacher and the most important influence in their life. Have conversations in Mandarin at least once a week or even better, once a day.
Learn the language with them, try and learn more than them so you can be the teacher they look to for the answers that they need when they are learning.
Making flash cards with your children that are bilingual (English and Chinese) can also help. You could borrow from the library or buy the flash cards first, then ask them if they would like to make their own. You can discuss with them the tools and materials that will be used to create the flash cards and how many your going to make. You can also discuss what is going to be written and drawn on each card. Making bilingual tools will make your child more interested in learning both Chinese and English.
Try reading something Chinese together on a weekly basis. While images and animations are good for learning, studys show that the reading of text can be a more effective way of developing imagination and thinking skills.
And also, if your kids love the internet, create a blog with them about your everyday Chinese learning so that they are more interested in learning the language. On your blog you can post your kids videos of them speaking mandarin, or upload your conversation audio files, or create some discussions and write about new ways you have discovered for boosting learning.
