7 Great Places To Capture Those Magic Photos Of Sydney Australia

Picture this

Picture this. You've arrived in Sydney and you have only 2 days in Australia's biggest city. You want to find the best places to remind you of your holiday of a lifetime. But where do you go? Here are 7 suggestions.

Sydney can be an overwhelming city. It's big, it's busy and there is so much to see and do. But there are some fantastic places to capture those amazing photos.

And best of all, most of these spots are free!

Let's start with Circular Quay.7 Great Places To Capture Those Magic Photos Of Sydney Australia

1.Circular Quay.

This area is the virtual heart of Sydney. You can just wander around here, absorb and enjoy. I just love this place. It's bustling, exciting and there's so much to see.

It's right on the harbour, close to the ferry terminals, the Opera House and the bridge. Spend some time here absorbing the atmosphere and you'll get some great photos.

2.Walk across the harbour bridge.

From Circular Quay, walk to an area known as The Rocks, one of the first settled areas of Sydney with some great old buildings. On Sundays there is a fascinating street market, providing a good opportunity to purchase souvenirs.

Ask for directions to the bridge stairs and take the walkway across the bridge to Milson's Point. It will take about 20 minutes and you will be rewarded with some of the best views of Sydney.

You may like to walk to Kirribilli Point and more great harbour views. Walk past the home of Australia's Prime Minister to a viewing area at the end of the road.

Return to the city on the walkway or take the train from Milson's Point station.

3.Take a ferry to Manly.

One of the most popular cruises for visitors to Sydney is the ferry trip to Manly.

Ferries leave from Circular Quay and photo opportunities abound not only on the ferry journey, but also at Manly, with one of Sydney's top surf beaches, great places to eat and lots to see and do.

One of my memorable holiday moments was returning to Circular Quay in the late afternoon and capturing the silhouette of the harbour bridge just as the sun was setting.

4.Walk from the Opera House to King's Cross.

One of my favourite walks in Sydney.

A pathway follows the southern banks of the harbour and you have many photo opportunities not only of the harbour, but parklands along the way.

Cosmopolitan King's Cross will reward you with more great photos and the chance to enjoy a well deserved coffee.

Return to Sydney CBD by train or walking along William St.

5.Take a bus to Bondi Beach.

Australia's most popular beach can be reached by bus from a terminal at the east end of Circular Quay.

Take your time enjoying the beach, the holiday atmosphere and the great views of the beach from the cliffs on both the north and south side of the oval shaped bay.

6.Watsons Bay and the Gap.

A bus will take you from Bondi to Watsons Bay.

Ask for directions to the Gap and enjoy views of the cliffs with some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Australia.

You can walk along a pathway to South Head and enjoy great views of the Pacific Ocean and the entrance to Sydney Harbour.

Return to Watsons Bay for more photos looking west across the harbour with the city skyline and bridge in the distance.

You may like to enjoy a fish and chips meal on the jetty, before returning to the city on the ferry.

7.Sydney Tower.

For a bird's eye view of the whole of Sydney, take the lift to the observation deck at the top of Sydney tower. It is accessed from George St and if the weather is fine, the views are spectacular.

Don't bother with:

1.Bridge Climb.

Truth is, if you are on a tight budget, the views, even though they are amazing, can be enjoyed just as much from the free walk across the bridge or the much cheaper Sydney Tower.7 Great Places To Capture Those Magic Photos Of Sydney Australia

You are not allowed to take your camera (you may drop it on the traffic below) and have to pay extra for a group photo.

2.Darling Harbour.

This is a great place for souvenirs and meals, but very touristy. If you are restricted for time, it could be bypassed.
