In my experience, there are seven common reasons why your ads might not be doing their job and fail. Just read on below and check if one of these is the problem with your particular ad. 1. A bad headline Many people think that writing is a cinch. The truth of the matter is that brochures still operate under the rules of many printed media out there. One of the major rules is to create a good headline. If your ad has a bad headline, many people will likely just ignore it altogether. So, if you want to prevent this from happening, try to test out your headline with a few people before printing brochures. Try to see if the opinions are favorable or not. Change it if it is not attractive enough to everybody. 2. No attractive images Speaking of attraction, another common mistake is bad images. Images must not only display things. It must also attract. You cannot really expect people to look at your ads if it has no eye-catching images. If it only has boring symbols and graphs, you will lose your readers immediately. I find it better to use images with actual people so that people can relate more. This makes things more attractive and therefore more effective. 3. Walls of text Another reason are because sometimes they become walls of text. Some designers or writers get obsessed with including everything that the whole thing becomes all made out of text. This is a bad idea since people will not really be encouraged to read something with walls of text if they are not forced to. It makes things boring and uninteresting, so try to avoid this when possible. 4. Unremarkable color Sometimes, failure is because of color. Colors play a part in its success. If your brochure has the same color as many of the others that your rivals deploy then it will definitely have a less chance of being noticed. So make it a point to be remarkable and use a less common color. 5. Lack of originality Failure may also happen if you do not use an original design. If you use templates and very formulaic design layouts and messages, people will think that it is just like those other boring ones out there. If you are more original about your design, you can at least gain some kind of distinction against the rest though. So think of something new and original for your design or you will not be noticeable at all. 6. Inferior materials Sometimes failure is because of their actual materials. People judge your marketing tools by how they look and how they feel. If they look cheap with cheap materials, hardly anyone will touch it. That is why it is best to spend as much as you can on quality paper and inks. 7. Bad deployment strategy Finally, and perhaps most importantly, failure might be because of a bad deployment strategy. They can have the best design, the best materials and the best content, but if you do not give them to the right people at the right places, you will never get them to perform. This means that you will have to have a well thought out plan for distributing right from the start. See where your target markets are and deploy there at the best times when lots of people are present. Great!
